PARIS PHOTO NEW YORK ONLINE PRESENTATION

As longtime exhibitors at PARIS PHOTO and long standing members of AIPAD, we were enthusiastically looking forward to the launch of the first edition of PARIS PHOTO NY that was scheduled to take place last week.

Amidst growing concerns around the spread of COVID19, the fair has been canceled a month ago — and today we are devastated to hear how hard New York City has been hit by the pandemic. Our heart goes out to all our many friends in the city and those in lockdown around the world. Stay safe and sane and stay home!

Since we were excited about our concept for the fair, we thought we would take this opportunity and give you the possibility to view the works online from home. It is not the same as actually visiting the booth, let alone meeting and discussing the works in person, but it still is a good way of showing you what we had in stall.

When thinking about the concept for our booth, we had come across a quote by the great Italian photographer Luigi Ghirri:

“My point of departure for looking into landscape is to consider nothing to be insignificant, and to see in a landscape, in a point of space, in a moment of life, or in a slight change of light, the possibility of a new perception!”

As Ghirri put it, looking at a landscape picture, a representation of the world, allows for the possibility of a renewed perception. We titled the concept “Contemporary Landscape” and invited two photographers who very much stand for a new or re-newed perspective and whose different approaches to the topic of “Landscape” have given them distinguished positions in contemporary photography. They are Janelle Lynch and Bill Jacobson.
